My Philosophy of Grading

Hello! My name is Candace Katen and I am a sophomore elementary education major at Kutztown university. I am participating in a study that is focusing on standards based grading in mathematics in the elementary classroom. I believe that elementary students should be graded on their development of social, emotional, cognitive, and motor skills as well as core subject skills. Hands on activities need to be incorporated into the curriculum that foster social, emotional, and physical development. This will allow the teacher to grade the child on individual categories and help them move onto the next grade level.
